The Most Expensive Month Ever!

The past 6 weeks has held many adventures for my family. Too many. It all started when Mike went camping and boating with the scouts and really hurt his knee. After 2 trips to the Dr. he found out that he ripped a tendon top to bottom. So, thankfully, he doesn't require surgery. It will take about 6 months to heal.

The next week Andrew got hit really hard in football. We thought that he might have a concussion, so as any good overprotective mom, I made him sit out the next day.

At this point, I think we had and injury free week.

The next week I got a call from the school and they told me that Naomi had fallen off the monkey bars and her arm was hurting. I told them to just watch her for a little bit and see how she is doing. I know this doesn't make me look like "Mother of the Year", but I have paid for way too many x-rays in the past for other children who turned out to be fine, so I didn't want to panic and rush to any conclusions. Well they called back and told my she was still complaining and wouldn't use her arm at all. At this point I was pretty sure it was broken and took her in (my experience paying off). I could tell the Dr. didn't think it was broken by the way he was talking to me. As soon as I saw the x-ray I could see the break. He comes back in and told me it is broken! Of course this happened on a Friday so we had to wait until Monday to get a cast. That was another adventure. I have to pick up all 4 of my elementary kids early so we could get her cast on. The nurse calls for Naomi and then freezes in horror as me, Naomi and the other 3 kids get up to go back. Then she said "Are they all with you?!" In my head my thoughts went something like- Bring it HAG! You picked the wrong mom on the wrong day with WAY too much stress in my life!!! Do you want a fight! Right here in the waiting room in front of that little old lady!? do you? You may be taller, but I am meaner and you will be sorry!! Instead, I took a deep breath and just said yes. I remember my Mom saying if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. So with her big huff she took us back to the room and Naomi got a hot pink cast. That stupid nurse kept acting like my kids were bad. They did walk over and look at the stickers that the Dr. offered them. They didn't touch just looked and were talking and she told them not to touch she would help them in a minute and she got after me for taking a picture of Naomi and her cast!

The next week I get another call from the school to tell me "Don't worry! We just wanted to let you know that Naomi bumped her head, but she is OK!".

I have a week off from injuries.

The next week Ammon and Sariah were playing and Ammon jumped onto Sariah's bed. I hear Sariah scream (you know the kind where you just KNOW she is hurt) and Ammon saying over and over "I'm sorry! I didn't mean!". It was so gross! He knocked her adult tooth and it was pushed back and hanging down. Lucky for us we know a dentist from church and he said to come over and he would look at it. Mike took her and they ended up going to his office for x-rays and it was not good! Ammon broke her tooth by the root!!!!! What do you think happened to his head after hitting her hard enough to bread the tooth? Not a thing. No bump, no cut, nothing. They ended up pushing the tooth back and wiring it to the 2 teeth next to it to help hold it in place. Now we are probably going to have to do a root canal on that tooth. She can't bite anything with that tooth. The dentist told her not even a cupcake, just put everything in the back and take small bites for 6 weeks.

This brings me up to today. Last night I let the twins take a bath for the first time since the broken bone and they soaked the cast!!!! Really soaked. Water poured out like a watering can when she stood up. Never leave twins unattended!!! They are NAUGHTY!!! So this morning I had to take her to the Dr. and get a new cast put on.

If anyone cares, I need a break. A massage would be nice. And please, dear children, stay healthy. Or I will cancel Christmas to pay for all your (mis)adventures!

Jenny, my love. Bring those naughty kids over to the Fisher Corrections Facility and we will incarcerate them while you and Mike have a date. It may not fix it all, but it will help. Call me soon, and we'll pick a time. So sorry for you, for Sariah (!), Naomi, and Mike and YOU. Prayers that all will be uneventful for YEARS to come. xoxo

Jenny! Wow! Crazy! I think you are a super mom....I can't believe that all of that happened to your family. Did people stop you and ask if the family had been in a car accident? Seriously, I am so far away...all I could offer is fun products for you and Mike....but you probably just want a vacay.

Hope you have a good month of November. :)

Props on being nice to the nurse...I have a way of telling people they're idiots as soon as it comes to mind.
